Helicopter Courses

History says Leonardo da Vinci thought of the helicopter's principle centuries before the Wright brothers made that first flight over the Kitty Hawk dunes in 1903. But it was not until the outbreak of the Second World War that rotary flight became a practical possibility. By the end of the conflict, the helicopter had gone from possibility to reality and has since evolved remarkably rapidly into a practical means of short-range transport. More significant to the private flyer, increased knowledge and better materials technology has produced the affordable personal helicopter. For the price of an upmarket car the private helicopter pilot can look down on all those traffic jams instead of sitting in them.

But before that, an aspiring rotary owner must learn the complexities of rotary flight. A helicopter is designed to be extremely manoeuvrable which makes controlling it a trickier task. Unlike a fixed wing, a helicopter must always be guided, it will never fly itself.

But there are similarities in the training. Much of the study side - air law, meteorology and navigation - is similar because you need to operate in the UK's busy airspace just the same and you need the facilities to make the learning process easy and pleasurable.

You can come to us and complete the course from start to finish with the advantage of in-house examiners. We are a self-contained operation with numerous aircraft available. Additionally we can provide on-site maintenance, therefore the chance of a helicopter not being available is minimal.

Rotary flight offers special wonders all of its own – come to the Multiflight Flight Training Centre and experience these first hand!
